Matt's List — Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 2026

The short version: Matt's List doesn't sell your data, doesn't share it with advertisers, and only collects what's needed to make the app work.

What we collect

When you use Matt's List we collect:

  • Your referral code and how you accessed the app
  • Your restaurant search inputs — city, vibe, cuisine, party size
  • Your post-dinner feedback when you choose to share it
  • Your email address if you provide it for future login features

We do not collect your name, payment information, or precise location. The map feature uses your device location only to show you where recommended restaurants are — we don't store it.

How we use it

We use what we collect to:

  • Validate your access and manage referral codes
  • Generate restaurant recommendations
  • Improve the quality of Matt's curated list over time based on feedback
  • Contact you if you've provided your email and opted in

We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for any purpose beyond running Matt's List.

Third party services

Matt's List uses the following third party services to function:

  • Google Sheets — to store restaurant data and referral codes
  • Google Places — to pull restaurant photos and booking links
  • Anthropic Claude — to generate AI-powered recommendations
  • Mapbox or Google Maps — to display restaurant locations
  • Uber — when you tap "get an uber" you are redirected to Uber's platform

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for data collected directly by these platforms.

Data retention

We keep your referral code and feedback data for as long as Matt's List is operating. You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing us.

Your rights

You have the right to request access to your data, correct it, or ask us to delete it. Email us and we'll sort it out.

Matt's List — Terms of Service

Last updated: March 2026

The short version: Use Matt's List to find great restaurants. Don't abuse it, don't share your code with randos, and understand that restaurant recommendations are our honest opinion — not a guarantee.

What Matt's List is

Matt's List is a private, invite-only restaurant recommendation service. Access is granted via referral code. By using Matt's List you agree to these terms.

Your access

Your referral code is personal. It was issued to you specifically and is not transferable. You may share your own invite codes with people you trust — that's the whole point. But sharing your personal access code with others is not allowed and may result in your access being revoked.

Our recommendations

Matt's List provides restaurant recommendations based on our honest curation and AI-assisted suggestions. We do our best to keep information accurate and up to date but we cannot guarantee that:

  • Restaurants are still open
  • Booking links are current
  • Menu items or insider tips are still available
  • Availability exists when you want to book

Always confirm directly with the restaurant before showing up. We are not responsible for a bad experience, a closed restaurant, or a fully booked room.

Bookings and third parties

When you tap "book table", "get an uber", or "visit website" you are leaving Matt's List and entering a third party platform. We are not responsible for transactions, bookings, or experiences that occur on those platforms.

Sponsorship

Matt's List may feature sponsored restaurant placements or brand partnerships. These will always be clearly labeled. Sponsored placements do not influence Matt's personal recommendations — Matt wouldn't recommend somewhere bad regardless of who's paying.

Changes

We may update these terms from time to time. If anything significant changes we'll let you know. Continued use of Matt's List means you accept the updated terms.

Limitation of liability

Matt's List is provided as-is. We are not liable for any direct or indirect damages arising from your use of the app, reliance on our recommendations, or interactions with third party services.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
