The short version: Matt's List doesn't sell your data, doesn't share it with advertisers, and only collects what's needed to make the app work.
What we collect
When you use Matt's List we collect your referral code and how you accessed the app, your restaurant search inputs (city, vibe, cuisine, party size), your post-dinner feedback when you choose to share it, and your email address if you provide it for future login features.
We do not collect your name, payment information, or precise location. The map feature uses your device location only to show you where recommended restaurants are - we don't store it.
How we use it
We use what we collect to validate your access and manage referral codes, generate restaurant recommendations, improve the quality of Matt's curated list over time based on feedback, and contact you if you've provided your email and opted in.
We do not sell your data. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for any purpose beyond running Matt's List.
Third party services
Matt's List uses Google Sheets (restaurant data and referral codes), Google Places (restaurant photos and booking links), Anthropic Claude (AI-powered recommendations), Google Maps (restaurant locations), and Uber (when you tap "get an uber" you are redirected to Uber's platform). Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for data collected directly by these platforms.
Invite codes
Invite codes are tied to the person who issued them. When you redeem a code, the issuer can see that their code was used. They cannot see your name, contact information, or any of your activity within the app.
Cookies & storage
We use browser local storage to remember that you've already validated your invite code, so you don't have to re-enter it on every visit. We do not use third-party tracking cookies.
Data retention
We keep your referral code and feedback data for as long as Matt's List is operating. You can request deletion of your data at any time by emailing us.
